Between 13 and 16 December, Compostela becomes the meeting point for official guides with the III National Meeting of Official Tourist Guides. This is a very special meeting because, in addition, it celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Spanish Confederation of Professional Federations and Associations of Tour Guides (Cefapit) and the 40th anniversary of the Professional Association of Tour Guides of Galicia. In order to celebrate this event, the association has the collaboration of Incolsa-Turismo de Santiago, the Museo do Pobo Galego, the Parador de Santiago and the Cathedral. The most outstanding events, which will bring together delegates from the 30 professional associations throughout Spain, in addition to those who register as freelancers and Galician associates, will be the inaugural, which will take place next Thursday in the Auditorium of the USC, and the gala dinner, which will be hosted by Hostal dos Reis Católicos on Saturday 16 and will include the ceremony of the association’s 40 years. The agenda is rounded off with guided visits to the Cathedral, the Cathedral Museum and Casa da Troia, the route of a small stretch of the Way, a reception in Raxoi and several excursions.
The Professional Association of Tourist Guides of Galicia was founded in 1978 and had an active participation in the foundation, ten years later, of the Spanish Confederation of Guides. The collective is currently represented in the Galician Tourism Cluster and in the European Federation of Guides. The role of the association is centred on the defence of the profession, collaborating with the administrations, favouring the continuous training of guides and mutual insurance services for them.
